Our team of dedicated volunteers are central to the work of Opera Holland Park. Their hard work in a variety of roles throughout the year (from front of house at the theatre to administration in the OHP office) helps us to do more as a charity and we are incredibly grateful for their support. The range of opportunities is time and commitment flexible, with roles year round in the office as well as during the summer season. Applications are welcome from all ages/backgrounds but particularly students seeking work experience.
Volunteer roles include:
Volunteering at the theatre during the OHP season – June & July
Be part of the team that helps make Opera Holland Park the highlight of our patrons’ summer. We need volunteers to help at all performances during the season to play a vital role in our front of house team. All we ask is that you commit to a minimum of three evenings during the season and attend an induction/briefing in June, which will include a tour of the theatre and meeting the principal staff at OHP.
- Programme selling at the programme desk and around the OHP theatre site. Full training is provided for the cash handling aspect of the role.
- Stage-door guardianship is an opportunity to experience the backstage atmosphere and meet some of the artists. It is the guardians’ responsibility to ensure that only authorised people have access to the backstage area.
- Steward at dress rehearsals and performances involves working at the main gate alongside a member of staff, checking tickets and welcoming people. At dress rehearsals, the role includes keeping an eye on the audience within the theatre.
Volunteering in the OHP office – year round
OHP staff work year round to produce critically acclaimed opera during the 6 week summer season, as well as deliver Inspire outreach projects in the local community. We need volunteers to help us with office administration and other ad-hoc work throughout the year.
If you are interested in volunteering at OHP, please get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 020 3846 6222, option 2.
