The Royal Ballet School, founded in 1926 by Dame Ninette de Valois, is a centre of excellence for classical ballet training and ranks among the top three such schools in the world. It is the official school of The Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet, and boasts 100% employment of its graduating students to these and other top international ballet companies. Alumni include, among many others; Margot Fonteyn, Kenneth MacMillan, Antoinette Sibley, Anthony Dowell, Anya Linden, Jonathan Cope, Darcey Bussell, Steven McRae, Lauren Cuthberson and rising stars, Vadim Muntagirov, Yasmine Naghdi, Matthew Ball and Francesca Hayward.
The School’s end of year performances are an opportunity to witness the exceptional talent of its young dancers, and are a must-see for all ballet fans.
The Royal Ballet School has a long history at Holland Park. It performed here in the late sixties and seventies and then returned in 1987, when the first canopy was installed, to become an annual fixture – and a big hit with audiences. In 2001 students gave their last performance at OHP as the School moved its end-of-year performances to the Royal Opera House.
It is with great pleasure that we welcome them back for four spectacular performances in 2016. These performances will feature dancers from all years of the School in a mixed programme of classical ballet repertoire, contemporary and character pieces, with work by choreographers such as Kenneth MacMillan, Peter Wright, Liam Scarlett, and exciting new work by David Bintley. It will provide a rare glimpse into the future of ballet in this country and beyond.
2 hours 20 minutes with 30 minute interval
Please note the £15 tickets for the Royal Ballet School performances are NOT Inspire tickets and will be on sale when booking opens.
