Retrospective: OHP Open Day 2017

Opera Holland Park welcomed over 1000 people to its Open Day on Sunday 23 July.

Visitors were greeted upon arrival by recitals from OHP singers and Young Artists.

They then had the opportunity to participate in conducting classes with OHP’s Associate Conductor Paul Wingfield, before demonstrating their newly acquired prowess in the main auditorium, conducting the City of London Sinfonia through passages of Carmen, The Marriage of Figaro and William Tell.

Workshops based on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland took place on the terrace, while the Dutch picnic area hosted tea parties with Alice and Playlist for Life. Set models, costumes and programme magazines were exhibited on the mezzanine and visitors had the chance to kick back in the Oak Room, where behind the scenes footage and short films were screened throughout the day.

Energised by sweet treats courtesy of Investec and the Rainbow Trust, visitors concluded the day with a rousing rendition of the Anvil Chorus from Verdi’s il trovatore.

Thank you for joining us and we hope to see you at next year’s Open Day, if not before!
