Production Support 2018
Support our 2018 production of Pietro Mascagni’s Isabeau as a member of our Production Syndicate. Opera Holland Park has a long tradition of exploring rare Italian opera from the late 19th and early 20th century, bringing works that have been forgotten or are rarely seen to the stage. Isabeau is our ‘rarity’ for 2018.
Known almost solely for Cavalleria rusticana, OHP dispelled the myth that Mascagni is a one-hit wonder with the sell-out production of Iris in 2016. The principal tenor role of Folco will be performed by David Butt Philip. Isabeau’s librettist was Luigi Illica, Mascagni’s collaborator on Iris, and it draws upon similar richly scored Wagnerian musical influences as that opera. The work – a take on the Lady Godiva story – premiered in 1911 and was Mascagni’s attempt to revive the romanticism of Italian opera.
As a Production Syndicate member, you will play an important role in supporting Isabeau from start to finish, with unique insights into production planning and rehearsal process. Most importantly, you will be supporting OHP in its ambition to share these rarely performed operas with new audiences.
Production Syndicate support starts at £750, with role sponsorship of La traviata starting at £7,500.
